Dr. Lawrence LaPointe is a leading researcher in the field of patient representation learning applying machine learning innovation at Blue Sky Mind to realize the vision of precision healthcare. Prior to forming Blue Sky Mind, Dr. LaPointe was a co-founder and CEO of Clinical Genomics, a healthcare company that developed and marketed diagnostic tests for the early detection of cancer, including a “liquid biopsy” blood test for colorectal cancer based on detecting epigenetic changes in early-stage neoplasia. Before Clinical Genomics, Dr. LaPointe was a co-founder of Enterix Inc, the originator of FIT for colorectal cancer screening, where he co-developed and launched InSure FIT, a product distributed to more than 50 million people during its 25 year product span. Over three decades as a healthcare innovation leader, he has been awarded more than 20 global patents, has co-authored over 20 peer reviewed publications and more than 50 conference presentations. Dr. LaPointe has a PhD in Bioinformatics from Flinders University (Australia) where he applied machine learning to identify new biomarkers for cancer, after receiving his BSc from Florida State University.
